The moral of the story:
Nothing in life is easy. Dogs are not livestock even though
most laws only protect them to that degree. People have legal
rights to breed dogs for profit under the worst conditions which
will ultimately ruin breed after breed and continue to fill shelters
and rescue organizations to overflowing. This ensures that the
rate at which dogs are euthanized will continue to increase, and
the numbers are already staggering. Ethics in breeding can only
be encouraged at this point in time.
If you are interested in dogs, purebred (or mixed) join a local
breed or all breed club. Or volunteer your time with a local rescue
organization. Above all, assist in educating your friends and
family so they can make responsible decisions when acquiring pets.
Help them also to understand that neutering/spaying their pets
is not something to be dealt with ‘later’. It is their
responsibility now.
All of the above is my own opinion and condensation (believe
it or not) of what I consider to be facts. If anyone believes
there is an error or that a clarification on any point is needed
please let me know
and I will review it and make corrections as needed.
